First Manhattan is a privately held partnership founded over 60 years ago. The firm offers investment advisory and wealth planning services with over $29 billion in AUM. The Firm prides itself on providing our clients with wealth planning advice, a curated approach to portfolio management, and responsive, high-touch service. We have a long and successful history of managing equity portfolios with low portfolio turnover using a value-oriented approach to investing, built on deep-dive, fundamental research. This includes frequent face-to-face meetings with our clients, company management teams, expert networks, competitors and consultants. Thorough accounting-oriented financial analysis is the hallmark of our research team. We also manage fixed-income and passive index fund portfolios for our clients. The firm is seeking an experienced Paraplanner.

Responsibilities:

§ Will report directly to the Co-Heads of Wealth Planning

§ This is not a client-facing role and would not be suitable for a planner with a book of business

§ Support all aspects of the operations behind the wealth planning offering at the Firm

§ Stay on top of and research rules, regulations, legislative changes and trends related to financial planning

§ Liaise with legal compliance and supervision as needed

§ Draft wealth planning related white papers for client and internal distribution

§ Review third-party software programs to evaluate their relevance for our Firm

§ Support Co-Heads in updating the Firm’s capital market assumptions in eMoney on an annual basis

§ Candidate will have a preference for analytical work

The preferred candidate will be extremely detail-oriented and able to effectively communicate internally with Portfolio Teams both verbally and in writing. This candidate must be self-motivated and able to work independently.

Qualifications: The CFP^® certification is a prerequisite for this position. Additionally, the candidate must have a minimum of seven years’ financial planning experience in private wealth management. The ideal candidate currently works at a wealth management Firm, a fintech Firm or in the Wealth Management division of a large bank.

§ CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER^® practitioner

§ Experience with wealth planning for individuals and complex family relationships

§ Exceptional attention to detail

§ Excellent writing skills

§ Experience supporting high net worth wealth advisors and financial planners

§ Experience reviewing wealth plans/analyses

§ Empathy, compassion and strong listening skills

§ eMoney experience strongly preferred

§ Strong understanding of trusts and estate planning

§ Ability to perform research and draft financial planning related articles

Compensation: The position offers competitive compensation consisting of a base salary plus an annual performance-based discretionary bonus. The base salary range is $175,000 - $225,000.
