Position Overview
The successful Paraplanner candidate will learn financial planning at a leading-edge firm from an experienced team. They will work directly with clients, prepare financial plans and reviews, and work in all aspects of financial planning, from the discovery process to implementation. At AFG, we provide extensive support to our Paraplanners, from preparing for and taking the CFP® Exam to gaining the experience necessary to qualify to be a CFP® Licensee. The Paraplanner supports the team through client engagement and planning support. They assist in developing and monitoring the financial plan, ensuring a positive client experience. They work with the team to ensure all commitments are completed and followed through promptly.
The ideal candidate should exhibit high standards, excellent communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to take initiative. They should also be able to effectively manage time independently and multi-task with attention to detail. In this role, you will:
• Actively participate in all assigned client meetings.
• Use financial planning software (eMoney) to maintain client data and model financial projections.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of financial plans for clients.
• Actively document all notes and action items during client meetings and ensure all commitments made by the Advisor are completed promptly.
• Under the direct oversight of the Advisor, actively engage in Team meetings, providing recommendations and feedback relative to the client’s financial plan as appropriate.
• Focus on high-level planning support and client deliverables as assigned for client planning cases
• Identify gaps and recommendations in the financial plan and provide feedback to the Advisor.
• Design, implement, and manage projects with the rest of the team in pursuit of company goals.

Experience and Education
• Bachelor’s degree required
• CFP® designation or ability to obtain within 3 years of hire
• Leadership experience a plus
• Experience with Securities, Financial Planning, Investments, and Insurance preferred
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Salesforce and eMoney experience are greatly beneficial.
Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Note, we do not sell financial products and business development is not required for this role. Additionally, we offer paid time off, health insurance, and 401(k) safe harbor, among other benefits.

Our firm is an established RIA with client relationships that span more than 30 years. We currently serve approximately 400 client households across a team of 5 advisors. We’ve built out our internal structures and processes over time and our system is repeatable and easy to plug into. Our client relationships are built on planning and trust.
