The Associate Director of Financial Aid reports to the Director of Financial Aid and works closely with all members of Student Financial Services, which is comprised of the Office of Financial Aid, the Office of Student Accounts, and the Office of Student Success. This position will manage the undergraduate financial aid team and processes, including the file review process and training staff on annual changes to processes and regulations. This position also provides financial aid assistance through an emphasis on individual attention to students and high-quality service. This position not only requires excellent skills in working with families and staff regarding the challenges of affording a college education but also the ability to assist with financial aid processing functions. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES include supervision/management of 3-5 staff members, training, mentoring, and performance evaluations; directing and assisting other staff with office projects; staying informed about industry trends and regulatory changes; collaborating with other financial aid team leads to improve processes; serving as undergraduate file review team lead; completing R2T4 calculations; assisting in Enrollment Management activities; liaising with Education Abroad & Domestic Programs office; acting as point of contact for Circle Scholars; processing and tracking private scholarships; completing Pell Grant reconciliation; assisting with SAP processing and financial literacy initiatives; supporting state aid programs; verifying financial aid information; assisting with federal verification compliance; reviewing appeal requests; supporting degree audit review and financial hold clearance; counseling students and families; assisting with phone coverage and email responses; and other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS include a Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s preferred), 5-7 years of experience in Financial Aid or related areas, 3-5 years experience with Banner or similar systems, experience with counseling and student programming, and experience working with diverse student populations. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES include knowledge of admission and student services, excellent customer service, cross-training skills, ability to propose policy changes, strong communication and written skills, ability to handle stressful situations professionally, analytical and critical thinking skills, excellent organizational skills, and commitment to diversity. PHYSICAL ABILITIES include ability to sit or stand for long periods, concentrate for long periods, and some travel for outreach and professional development. WORK ENVIRONMENT is a typical office environment. Compensation ranges from $79,950.00 to $99,900.00 annually, commensurate with experience. Scheduled weekly hours are 36.25. The position is within the Division of Enrollment.
