Position Description
General Atlantic is looking to hire an Associate to support the Portfolio Management team. This position will report directly to the Vice President of Portfolio Management. This role is a two-year program (with the ability to extend, depending on performance and business need).
The Portfolio Management team provides a senior-level analytics and risk management function at the firm, working closely with our senior leaders and investment team members, and partnering with our fundraising, finance operations, valuations, and capital markets teams. The Portfolio Management team leverages portfolio company data to identify risks, opportunities, and assess the general health of our portfolio for the senior level Portfolio Committee. The team also leverages this data for internal and external reporting, including directly with investors. The generalist role will have a broad overall view of GA’s 200+ portfolio companies, and within GA itself. The Associate will partner with professionals across the firm while serving a vital role to the efficiency and effectiveness of the Portfolio Management team.
Responsibilities
- This role will play a critical part in supporting the quarterly financial planning cycles across portfolio companies while consolidating information and providing analyses to leadership via Portfolio Committee meetings.
- Collaborate across the firm working with Investment, Capital Solutions, Marketing, Legal, Accounting, and Finance professionals on portfolio requests.
- Collect, review, and analyze portfolio company level data across GA’s 200+ portfolio companies.
- Leverage portfolio data to architect metrics, solve problems, and prepare materials for senior level audiences influencing decision-making.
- Synthesize findings across the portfolio and macro data to deliver thoughtful analysis and actionable insights.
- Support the design and implementation of process improvement initiatives to drive scalable analysis and insight across the team and firm.
- Independently manage projects and workstreams, delivering strategic insights with minimal oversight.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred but not required depending on applicable work experiences.
- At least 3 years of experience in the consulting, accounting, corporate finance, or banking industry.
- Strong understanding of financial statements – P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow (i.e., ability to interpret financial data and related management information).
- Ability to develop presentations leveraging creativity, thoughtful business judgment and problem solving.
- Experience working with multiple stakeholders, effective verbal and written communication skills, and ability to synthesize information.
- Experience supervising and developing junior team members.
- Excellent Microsoft office skills, including Excel and PowerPoint.
- Self-motivated; has a “can-do” attitude and demonstrated ability to work independently.
- Record of outstanding professional and academic achievement.
- Experience or exposure to planning and reporting or data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Alteryx) is a plus but not required.
